A Peek at my Art Journal

Hey everyone,
Here are some pics of pages from my art journal. Some of them don't really have focal points and I'm ok with that. I'm using my journal to learn techniques and am more focused on having a fun messy time than creating polished finished pieces.
Most of these were made by starting with a Dylusions ink spray background. I then added acrylic paints, glitter, bits and pieces etc... Hope you enjoy!
This one reminds me of space. A nebula... Or something like that :)
Playing with crackle glaze. A great way of adding texture to a piece! I used Sideways Hibiscus from my Hibiscus - unmounted sheet and Hibiscus stencil in the background.
Using Water Droplets from unmounted sheet - Water Effects 1.
In this one I used my Gingko stencil with modeling paste. I then covered it in tar gel mixed with fluid acrylics. Like how it turned out. Reminds me of leaves floating down the river.
Maidenhair Fern stencil with modeling paste in the foreground. Rubber ink through it in the background.
Floral Spirals stencil with modeling paste and then painted over with many layers. This one started out gold. It was WAY too much so I painted green overtop. When the light catches the gold layer beneath it makes the green shine. Didn't show that well in this shot. Still not completely happy but whatever... I might find inspiration down the road and cover it all up with another layer. Lol. The beauty of layering and mixed media!
Something completely new for me but I realllly enjoyed making this one!
There is so much going on in this one I can't begin to remember everything that I stuck down to make this page. Fun!
I do so love gold... It's so hard for me not to cover everything in it...
Well that's it for me for now. If you're curious about any of techniques that I used let me know. Might give me ideas for future videos.
Bye for now! Wishing you lots of inspiration with whatever project you're into :)
Ryn

  6. STUNNING backgrounds, thank you for sharing your abstract pieces. I wouldn't want to add anything to them, put them on a wall in a gallery and they would sell out!

I enjoy making backgrounds more than completed projects. Like to cloud watch, find shapes in wallpapers and carpets etc so i will be back to Ryn Watch:-) xxx

  10. I love all of these Ryn and your colour combinations always have lots of impact, also love the texture paste for dimension. The red and white one with the black lines which you say is a new style for you is so interesting. When I look at it I see the white feathers on a swan. x

  19. Hi Ryn, its me Candice again. Just stopping by to say thanks for the comment you left on my blogpost with the teaser for the sponsor spotlight I did for you at Our Creative Corner. I was excited to see what you said so I did jump over to OCC to read the comment that you said that you left there, however I think something must have happened because it is not showing up yet or it didnt get published. But I am sure if it did I would have loved to have read your comment and to have replied to it there directly. But since it didnt publish - I just wanted to tell you here so that you wouldnt think that I didnt reply to your comment there. I am so thankful again for the opportunity to have played with the water effects collection, I truly had a great time.
