Happy Father's Day

Hey everyone,
I'm off to spend the day with my dad. Just wanted to post something quick. I'm giving this card to him. Shhhhh ;)
Lots going on in this one. I'll have to explain some of the techniques in more detail another time.
The background is Dyslusions Ink Sprays (watered down quite a lot). I stamped Luna from my collection with VersaFine ink and coloured the wings with Tombow Markers. I then blended the colour inwards with water. I used Distress inks through the stencil. After all of that was done I sealed the paper with matte medium to keep the colours from running.
Overtop, I did a layer of fluid acrylics in clear tar gel. Really cool marbling effects. First time using them in a card and I love them!!! More on that another time... Below you can see that it dries with a glossy finish.
Last touches were some ripped up Japanese rice paper that I had coloured with Dylusions Ink Sprays and some foil. Finished!
That's it for me. Sorry if the description for this one was rushed. I want to spend the day with my dad :) Wishing you all a great Father's Day!
Adios for now!
Ryn

  6. Fabulous Ryn, love the vibrant colours and effect, works so well with Luna stamp. I'd be interested to know what clear gel you used on the top when you have time :-)

  7. Ryn, this is stunning. I love the colours and the beautiful marbled effect - in fact all of it! I am looking forward very much to learning how you did the technique with the tar gel medium - I've got some of this but haven't used it yet. Your dad will be delighted to receive this beautiful work of art!

We have never celebrated Father's Day (being a late arrival on the calendar) but it coincides with my dad's birthday, 15th June. For me this has always been a special, personal Father's Day just for my dad. On Sunday we were attending a cathedral service while on holiday and I felt very close to him on the first of his birthdays when he is no longer with us, and admit to shedding a tear or two during the service! He always loved his birthday, and always appreciated all the cards I made for him.

Thank you for your visit to my blog and your lovely enthusiastic comment! We are certainly having a visually stimulating time. I just wish I had more energy to enjoy it more - very tired again today but just about managed to keep going! I've certainly got a lot of inspiration to bring home, and some new techniques to try.

    Hugs,
    Shoshi x
